What does it mean?
A Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC) is a fully licensed mental health professional in the state of Nevada. CPCs are independently licensed to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health concerns across the lifespan.
Licensure as a CPC requires completion of a graduate degree in counseling or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, fulfillment of all required supervised clinical hours, successful completion of the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE), and approval by the Nevada Board.

Scope of Practice.
CPCs provide individual, family, and group counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults. Services may address emotional, behavioral, relational, and psychological concerns using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Assessment & Diagnosis.
CPCs conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations to gather information about clients' psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues. They may use clinical interviews, standardized assessments, and other assessment tools to formulate diagnoses and treatment plans.

Treatment Planning
CPCs collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment plans based on their presenting concerns and goals. They integrate clinical assessments, client strengths, and evdence-based interventions to create comprehensive plans for therapeutic intervention.

Psychoeducation & Skill-Building.
CPCs provide psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, stress management, emotional awareness, communication skills, and other tools that support client understanding and long-term growth.

Documentation & Professional Standards
CPCs maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional standards required by the state of Nevada.

Professional Collaboration & Consultation.
CPCs may engage in professional collaboration and consultation with other licensed providers when clinically appropriate. This may include coordination with medical professionals, schools, or mental health providers to support comprehensive care while maintaining client confidentiality.

Continuing Professional Development.
CPCs actively pursue professional growth and development opportunities. They attend workshops, conferences, and trainings to stay updated on the latest research, therapeutic techniques, and ethical standards in the field.

Adhering to Ethical & Legal Guidelines.
CPCs follow ethical guidelines and legal regulations set forth by their licensing board and professional organizations. They uphold client confidentiality, maintain professional boundaries, and ensure the ethical practice of counseling.
